See you at PPMA

This month, the CP team will be attending PPMA at the NEC in Birmingham. You will find Confectionery Production alongside the other Bell Publishing titles on Stand G94.

This year’s show will play host to more than 300 exhibitors displaying the latest technologies and product launches from across the UK’s manufacturing industries. The show provides an opportunity for decision makers from across a range of industries to network with key manufacturers and distributors, all set against a back drop of innovation and industry expertise.

We feature a selection of the exhibitors in the September issue of the magazine, which should be landing on your desk this week.

Also in the September issue, we bring you news of innovative new developments in printing. Printing in 3D is hardly a new concept and specially designed printers have been used to make all sorts of objects, mostly out of plastic. However, confectioners are now getting in on the act, developing 3D printers that can manufacture a wide range of confectionery products, using raw ingredients and pre-mixed or manufactured materials.

We address the issues of hygiene and risk management in manufacturing with an article explaining how a robust cleaning regime can contribute to inspection success, and take a look at how to protect your product and your process from foreign bodies.

And finally, without gelling agents, the range of sugar confectionery available would be considerably reduced. Consultant Bill Edwards discusses the various gelling agents that can be used in the manufacturing of sugar confectionery. Also with a focus on ingredients, Hans Schinck highlights some of the critical factors in new product development and recipe formulation.

If you’d like to discuss potential editorial or advertising opportunities in future issues, we’d love to hear from you.
