Divine joins World Fair Trade day celebrations

Divine Chocolate, the UK fairtrade chocolate company, will take part in celebrating the World Fair Trade day on 9 May 2009 and has marked it with a new chocolate souffle recipe. World Fair Trade Day is the global campaign for The Fair Trade movement connecting producers and customers around the world. The day will see a range of global events throughout the day under the title Big Bang!!

“Poverty, Climate Change and Economic Crisis are from the same place ” greed and ignorance. It’s time we all did something about it – it’s time to change. We don’t have to wreck the future to meet the needs of today. If we truly believe that Fair Trade is both sustainable and effective, then it is the solution to the world’s financial crisis,” says Paul Myers, President, World Fair Trade Organization.

Events in the UK include music events at the Africa Centre in London, Fair Trade markets and drumming circles and local music events across the whole country.
Divine will be present at various events including the fairtrade market in Canterbury and in Edinburgh.

Divine Chocolate is the leading Fairtrade chocolate company which is also co-owned by the cocoa farmers’ co-operative Kuapa Kokoo in Ghana – Kuapa Kokoo owns 45% of the company which means the farmers share in Divine’s profits and contribute to the running of the company.
