Nobody does it better

At last, here I am in Chicago. Having wandered around the Sweets & Snacks Expo tasting all sorts of irresistible confections, its salad on the menu for me at mealtimes. Of course that wasn’t the case at breakfast when I chose blueberry muffins to help manage the jet lag and get me through the day, but apart from that I have fairly good intentions!

When it comes to confectionery, nobody does it better than the Americans. The sheer variety of what’s on offer is seriously exciting. After spending the day ‘tasting’ its taking a huge effort to stop myself from stocking up in the shops and supermarkets on all the other sweet and savoury treats I’d like to try!

So many of the products on offer are new to me, but of course the innovation never stops. Continual evolution is the name of the game…

And with that in mind, here’s some breaking news! Ferrero USA has triumphed as winner of the Most Innovative New Product Awards here at the show with its Tic Tac Minions… Other category winners are: the Albanese Confectionery Group for its Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Peanuts; Jelly Belly Candy Company for its Pancake & Maple Syrup Jelly Beans; Brown & Haley for Roca Thins Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark; Jelly Belly Candy Company for the BeanBoozled Mystery Bean Dispenser; and Diamond Foods for Kettle Brand Thick + Bold Dill Pickle Potato Chips.

Congratulations to you all, and by the way, CP reader, I know what you’re thinking… this is no place for good intentions. You’re right… I’m off to taste some more candy. The diet starts next week!
