Conference promotes innovation

DSM Nutritional Products, a global leader in nutritional ingredients, hosted the second Innovation Partnering Conference, Connecting Bright Innovations II on 15-17 December in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland. The conference connected talented entrepreneurs, scientists and product developers with key DSM executives, and affirmed DSM’s commitment to partner with small businesses and to engage with innovators in nutrition and health.

The conference included a half-day Learning Academy, designed to open a dialogue with attendees and share DSM’s collaborations and product innovations, and was followed by a 20 minute presentation from each invited institution. Each presenter was assigned a mentor from Nutrition Capital Network (NCN) and DSM to help develop their presentation prior to the conference.

Speaker at the Learning Academy, Rob Beudeker, vice president, innovation, human nutrition and health, comments: “We are delighted to have hosted Connecting Bright Innovations II, which has been a real success. It was a great opportunity to speak with attendees, engage with a varied portfolio of interesting presentations and share how DSM collaborates with universities and small businesses at all stages of the supply chain. For example, DSM works with relevant parties to co-develop products and invests in startups with innovative human nutrition and health solutions.”

Post-event mentoring from a DSM executive will be available on a case-by-case basis, and all presenters will be considered for an investment by DSM Venturing or for another type of collaboration with DSM Nutritional Products Human Nutrition & Health.
The first Connecting Bright Innovations event held in the USA earlier last year resulted in a number of relevant collaborations with participating companies, some of which are likely to result in a financial participation by DSM Venturing.
