Chocolate expansion in Brazil

Barry Callebaut has announced plans to expand its Brazilian factory. The Mina Gerais factory will have its chocolate liquid, moulding, and warehousing facilities expanded to accommodate an increasing customer demand in the region.

The company is investing US$ 11.5 million (BRL 28 million) in total on the project. The new equipment and the warehouse are expected to be finalised by April next year.

Paul Halliwell, general manager of the Chocolate Division of Barry Callebaut Brazil, says, “The increase of our production capacity is being undertaken to meet the growth in both our Food Manufacturing business and our local Gourmet brand SICAOTM whilst our warehouse expansion will be used as well to support the growing needs of our imported brands Callebaut and Cacoa Barry.”
