Companies commit to take action

From 17-19 June, 200 key stakeholders in the cocoa value chain met in Davos, Switzerland for Chocovision 2014. Following the decision from Chocovision 2012 to work together in order to ensure long-term supplies of quality cocoa, this year’s participants expressed their commitment to CocoaAction.

CocoaAction, a plan created and initiated by the World Cocoa Federation (WCF), aims to rejuvenate the cocoa sector by increasing communication between industry members and the governments of Ivory Coast and Ghana, and thus improving the livelihoods of the cocoa communities.

Barry Parkin, chairman of WCF, describes CocoaAction as “a win for cocoa farmers, a win for producing countries and a win for industry”. Guest speakers at Chocovision 2014 included representatives from cocoa growing countries governments, The Hershey Company and Mars.
